Knitting Rosarian mentioned she adds a little white vinegar when washing a newly knitted item. Does vinegar set color in a yarn? I was considering using leftover sock yarns of various colors to knit a shawl but am concerned that the yarns may bleed into each other when I washed the shawl. I have used white vinegar to set the dye/color in quilting fabrics and wondered if it does the same thing for yarns?

Thanks for a great podcast.
