I’ve recently returned from my trip to The Netherlands where I performed at The National Military Tattoo with the wonderful people of The Dutch Pipes and Drums.  My friend, fellow piper, and travel companion, Heather, is joining me today for the first time. Heather is tulip1014 on Ravelry.
Rotterdam Tattoo The Netherlands Military Tattoo

Our long time listeners may remember that I interviewed Pipe Major (Sir) Willie McVean and his wife Jose on Knitting Pipeline on Episode 47 in June 17, 2011.
I will be posting more photos on my personal blog, A Piper Knits, so you can follow me there if you like.
First time in full dress!

At the bus ready to travel to Rotterdam with our hosts, Alfons and Marielle.
Willie is tying the plait.

In this video you see the pipe band emerging from the mist and playing the sets.

We talk about food we enjoyed, such as stroopwafels.  I found a place in the U.S. where you can buy them and have them shipped to you. I Love Stroopwafels.

Lovely to hear about the trip. The details given by you and Heather made me feel (almost) like I had tagged along. Lovely to see the video, too.

Thanks for another great show!

Your recent podcasts and blogs have reminded me of many fond memories from my childhood. My father's roots are in PA and we spent several years in the Netherlands when I was a child. Shoofly pie, stroopwafels, Hopjes (coffee-flavored candy--did you try those?), French fries with mayonnaise, lace-curtained windows, learning to skate on a frozen canal, Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet...Thank you for the walk down memory lane. I am so glad you and Heather enjoyed your trip to a place I, too, think is very special.

Paula, I bet your weight doubled in your full kit. I'm certain from that picture it has made you twice as large as you normally are.

As for Ellison Bay, I would suggest that anyone wanting to knit right away join Mel over at Single Handed Knits. She is starting a KAL this week I believe. And then you could host a KAL a little later.

Paula,
Do you have a World Market near you? They have some cookies that look just like the Stroopwafels you mentioned. They are so yum - individually wrapped.
I've enjoyed your podcast - thanks for sharing - I especially enjoyed the ones featuring your son and his hike. I have an adventurous son his age in Africa presently.
